1. Walk to the toilet

When you go camping over this festive season, instead of squatting and peeing next to the tent, increase your steps by walking to the ablution facilities.

2. Do the walk of shame

Instead of booking an Uber after sleeping with your stranger, do the walk of shame. This is a double deal. The calorie burn from the adult activity and the walk home. 

3. Trimming the bush

Another good way of upping that energy expenditure through non-exercise activity could be gardening.

If you are a beginner or even an advanced fitness individual, here are some basic facts…

  • 10000 steps per day will burn on average 400 calories
  • You add some gardening to that…
  • You stand and work for an hour a day

If you add this all up and you have a minimum of 500 calories per day that you have burnt without even entering a gym!
