Fat Loss Basics

I used the word ‘basics’ for fat loss, because I need you to get the fuck back to them.

Back to basics, people.


I have noticed that many people get caught up on things like;

● When to eat.
● Fat Burners.
● Carbs & Protein.
● Flat Tummy Waters.
● And so much more…

Let me let you in on a little secret today.

Understanding your calories and energy balance is vital.

It literally doesn’t matter how much protein you eat or when you eat it. And sprinkling fat burners over your food won’t help either.

If you don’t have your calories in check.


Worrying about eating carbs after 7pm and what supplements you are going to take, before you even get your calorie targets sorted… Is like worrying about how your future kids will look, before you even meet the bang of your life.


In order of importance:

1. Calories

Calculate your calories goals. Work out your deficit. Get used to your calorie budget. Play around with different foods, see what fits and what you like. Take the time to log the foods. Learn about them. See which foods contain what calories. Don’t rush this step. It is the most vital.

2. Macronutrients

Once you had focused on your calories, you can now look at the source of those calories. Again, don’t overcomplicate this step. Focus on good quality protein, split your carbs & fats whichever way suits you.

If you are just starting out with trying to lose some fat, these are the two most important things you should be focusing on now.


3. Micronutrients

Now that you have the two most important steps under control, you can move onto your vitamins and minerals and the quality of the foods you eat.

4. Timing

If you have not got the first two steps sorted and under control, this is really not what you should be worrying about. Understand your calories, understand your macros, and then workout when you prefer eating your meals. You don’t instantaneity gain weight if you eat after 7pm. It is the amount of calories that you are eating that affects weight gain.

5. Supplements

No supplement will help if you don’t understand your calories. Don’t start with this step. Start with step 1. Understand your macros. Understand and calculate your protein targets first.


And another thing…

● No amount of ‘ab workouts’ will reduce tummy fat if you don’t have your calorie consumption in check.
● No amount of fat burners will help if you are consuming too many calories.
● You cannot out train a bad diet.
● There is no specific exercise for tummy fat. Focus on your calories consumed.
